The District In the second half of the 19th century, numerous artists settled in the Batignolles district. Among them was the painter Édouard Manet. A well-known meeting place for artists at that time was the Café Guerbois at 9 Avenue Clichy; the artists who met there were also known as the "Groupe des Batignolles". Henri Fantin-Latour called his group portrait with Manet and his artist friends "Un atelier aux Batignolles" (1870).

		Le Quartier Dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle, de nombreux artistes s'installent dans le quartier des Batignolles. Parmi eux, le peintre Édouard Manet. Un lieu de rencontre réputé des artistes à cette époque était le Café Guerbois, au 9 avenue de Clichy ; Les artistes qui s'y réunissaient étaient aussi appelés le Groupe des Batignolles. Henri Fantin-Latour a intitulé son portrait de groupe avec Manet et ses amis artistes «Un atelier aux Batignolles»(1870)
