Dakota Mills

Artist Statement

Dakota Mills received his Bachelors of Fine Arts from New Mexico Highlands University in northern New Mexico.

His early education in the abstract principally began under the tutelage of his late grandfather, sculptor, Richard Hollander.

“An idea is making marks that imitate the natural world. How the gradual transformation of weather erupts in sudden extremes and how the slow struggle to grow can climax in beauty. Or abruptly end in loss.

Interaction between the organic and material or of man with man appears to have the same principles. Inspiring similar metaphors only slightly different.”
